DanubeCrafts
DanubeCrafts responds to the common challenge of the Danube Region Programme (DRP) – Specific Objective 3.3 by addressing the rich cultural heritage and the untapped potential of traditional crafts, customs, and rituals—some of which are fading into obscurity—as well as the underexploited opportunities of thematic tourism in the Danube region. The project aims to change this situation through a joint multi-stakeholder approach, focusing on the preservation and development of traditional craft products and services, supported by thematic tourism “instruments”.
The overall objective of the project is to preserve, promote, and sustainably enhance traditional crafts through the creation of a “Traditional Crafts Route”, consisting of several tourist itineraries within local communities. These routes will highlight cultural and traditional attractions, stimulate employment, and expand knowledge on generating new income streams for local craftsmen and artisans—with particular attention to vulnerable groups and youth.
